Zachary S. Kehler, 70, of Davenport, IA passed away on June 26, 2026 in Belle Plaines Iowa in the care of his good friends James and Desiree Sanderson at their home after a long battle with medical issues.

Zac was born September 6, 1955 in Iowa City Iowa the first born son of Lola Perdue-Schneider and Richard Schneider. Zac was later adopted by his stepfather William F. Kehler. Zac was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Rice, who recently passed March 28, 2026. Zac was raised in Davenport Iowa and later lived in Wichita Kansas until returning home to Davenport where he lived out his remaining years.

Zac was an artist and was a master at Native American beading. He loved music and grew up playing the coronet and later played guitar. Zac was a kid at heart and always said he refused to grow up. He enjoyed playing video games and spent a lot of his time playing games, reading science fiction books, the bible and had a steadfast faith in God. Zac was a member of the American Indian Movement and loved attending and dancing in Native American Pow Wows in his home-made regalia with his mother. Zac enjoyed fishing and hanging out with his friends. Zac loved being with his nieces and nephews and having water fights and playing games with them when they would visit. Zac was an Army Vietnam Era veteran and worked as a carpenter for many years and attended college in Wichita Kansas for drafting earning straight A's in most subjects.

Zac is survived by his three siblings, Laura (Craig) Moorhead, Brian (Karma) Kehler and Lisa Dail; three nephews, Brandon, Aaron, Brenton and two nieces, Breanna and Alicia.

A special thanks to his long-time friends, Jim and Desi for their gentle bedside caretaking of Zac in his last days.
