Obituary
David (Davey) McCoy Jr. age 65 of Shellsburg, Iowa passed away March 21, 2026 from kidney failure. He was born the son of David McCoy Sr. and Marilyn (Pherigo) McCoy on September 23, 1960 in Waterloo, Iowa. He graduated in 1979 from Dysart Geneseo High School.
Davey is proceeded in death by his parents, David Sr. and Marilyn McCoy.
Davey had such a love for dogs. He loved to ride his Harley and go on bike rallies and enjoyed fishing. He was quick witted and could fill a room up with laughter.
Davey is survived by his two sons Michael (Emily) McCoy, Matthew Cooper and two beautiful grandchildren, Evan and Lana, one brother Doug Mccoy of Cedar Rapids and two sisters Kim Naber of Dysart, Bobbi (Dennis) McCoy of Cedar Rapids. Five nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Davey requested to have a party to celebrate his life. No tears, only casual conversations and laughter.
When: Saturday, June 20, 2026
Time: 1:00 to 4:00 in the afternoon Where: Dysart Community Center in the lower level.
